The Boswell Award No. 1

Cost: $300 / student (not including books)

  • Titan (by Ron Chernow)

  • The Power Broker (by Robert Caro)

  • The Years of Lyndon Johnson (3 vols., by Robert Caro)

  • Caesar (by Arian Goldsworthy)

  • Napoleon (by Andrew Roberts)

  • Churchill (by Andrew Roberts)

  • Lenin (by Victor Sebestyen)

Other things you should know:

  • You can complete the reading by audiobooks or by sight reading.

  • You will have 6 phone conversations (a minimum of 2 per year).

  • You set your own reading pace and can earn the award early.

  • You must read/listen to all of the book, except for the notes or bibliography sections.

  • You must agree to be listed on the "Honor Roll" page of our website for completing the award.

  • If you have read any of these works within 6 years prior to your official start date (your enrollment date), that work can be counted as read for the purposes of this award.

  • The award must be earned in the course of 3 years.

DEGREE-EQUIVALENCY AWARDS

 

Silver, Single Star (60 points)

(equivalent to Associate of Arts degree)

Cost: $50 / points ($3,000)

Other fees: $125 annual fee to the Open Latch Accreditation Foundation

Required Points:

  • 20 reading points

  • 10 writing points

  • 20 mentorship points

  • 10 part-time work points

  • A student-owned website built by the student and functioning as a learning portfolio

Other things you should know:

  • The cost and fees listed above do not include the cost of books or the cost of the website.

  • The reading and writing points are earned through online, asynchronous work. The mentorship points are earned through real-time conversations with a Ravenburn mentor. The part-time work points are earned as the student works a certain amount of paid hours at a professional business or organization.

  • Students will be expected to follow Ravenburn College's completion calendar (our calendar has four quarters of 8 work weeks and a summer session of variable length).

  • Early completion is possible pending approval by three Ravenburn mentors.

  • Award will be presented to student and also archived perpetually by Ravenburn and by the Open Latch Education Foundation.

Silver, Double Star (120 points)

(equivalent to Bachelor of Arts degree)

Cost: $50 / points ($6,000)

Other fees: $125 annual fee to the Open Latch Accreditation Foundation

  • 20 writing points

  • 40 mentorship points

  • 20 part-time work points
